About Trev

I started on 2-wheels in 1972 with a Lambretta Li150 which I bought for £60 and hand-painted blue. I had been riding for 10 years on various Hondas and had graduated to a Honda 400T Dream when the kids came along and I took a break from bikes. 10 years later I bought another Honda, a CB750F, for commuting to work. Shortly after that I changed it for a Yamaha XJR1200 but that ended badly when I wrote it off.

I joined the IAM to do my advanced training but soon drifted away from the IAM after I had done my test. I thought the IAM training was really useful and did a lot to improve my sense of self preservation. I still do a RoSPA 3-year refresher.

I got into doing the domestic rallies; National, Scottish and Welsh shortly after resuming motorcycling. I love the Welsh Rally and had been doing it since 2004 until Covid put an end to it in 2020. I'm sure it'll be back on soon. My annual bike mileage significantly increased when I started doing the Round Britain Rally in 2006.

After my XJR setback I had a number of touring bikes including a Blackbird, a bike I had lusted over for many years, and I did a fair few touring miles with my wife as pillion. I enjoy touring especially in Europe. In recent years most of my touring has been solo on my own as my biking friends fell away with our advancing years. I'll keep going for as long as I enjoy riding a motorcyle and my body allows me to do so.

This site is a diary of my rides, rallies and bikes.
